What do we do when we restore the faded photographs of old?
We clean the glasses of Father Time so his story can be told.

Since 1978, I have been copying & restoring old photographs. At first the restorations were done by hand, and although they were very nice, I discovered that I could do a better job using modern computer technology. You see, when you restore a photo by hand, it not only takes many hours of tedious work to get acceptable results, you have to use dyes & paints, pencils, and airbrush to try to approximate textures, and fill in the lines and damage of time.

With modern computer software, the process is much faster, and this saves my clients money. Also, much of the damage can be repaired completely, and seamlessly, because the restorer can actually replace the wrinkled or torn areas of a photograph with the identical textures, colors, and shades that the original had when it was brand new !

As the above example demonstrates, 2 images can be combined into a one of a kind visual art piece that is totally unique, and a wonderful family keepsake.

This is an example of a snapshot of a bride & groom that has been turned into a pleasing wedding portrait. The hot spots on the bride's face have been softened, the groom's shirt has been tucked in, and the dark, shadowed background has been replaced with a professional seamless backdrop.

The average restoration costs about $150.00, and includes a restored 4x5 negative, ( The cost is slightly higher for color ). The print costs extra. To choose the right sized print, and kind of photographic paper to suit your needs, see Black & White Lab. For color print costs see Color Lab.
